TUCK’S KITCHEN TRENDS FOR 2019

TUCK’S KITCHEN TRENDS FOR 2019

As we prepare to say goodbye to another year, some of us are preparing to farewell our aging and outdated kitchens too. A new year brings with it new beginnings, and of course, new design trends. When it comes to the heart of the home, what are the do’s and don'ts for kitchens in 2019? We’ve done the research for you, and no matter your deadline or budget, here at Tuck Plumbing - we have the solutions for you and your family. Whether it’s a full kitchen reno or tweaking your existing space… Why not, boil the kettle, get your cuppa ready, read-on to see what we’ve discovered below. Let’s get you on-trend for 2019…

‘Black is Back’

Say goodbye to all white kitchens, and colour. Dark, moody hues are the way to go in the new year. Why, you ask? Design experts say this new aesthetic embraces intimacy and warmth, and with a clever mixture of materials, for example concrete and timbers, can ensure the heart of your home is not too overwhelming or stoic. Haymes Paint Australia says Matte Black in the number one trend when it comes to designing and renovating kitchens.

Dark colours can also hide a multitude of sins.

‘Minimalism’

Minimalism in the home isn’t new, but what about when it comes to your kitchen appliances? Interior designers are dubbing it “Invisible Appliances.” The predictions are, we are going to see a growing demand for induction cookers, largely due to their efficiency and functionality. Let’s not forget how much easier they are to keep clean. There’s also a shift towards cooking with steam ovens. They’re quick, user friendly, a healthier alternative and require minimal washing-up. When it comes to the concept of invisible appliances, designers say they’ve seen an increase in stove-tops that have an inbuilt fan in the benchtop, eliminating the need for a large or bulky rangehood above the stove. Neat and tidy, who could argue with that?

‘Au Naturale’

Eco-friendly - the buzzword for kitchens in 2019. As homeowners make more sustainable and responsible design choices, natural materials are making a resurgence. Granite and marble are, and will continue to be extremely popular choices. There’s also a conscious move towards bamboo cabinetry and timber bench tops.

‘Don’t forget the Butler’

No, of course we don’t all have the luxury of a butler, however the butler’s pantry, as we head into 2019, is no longer considered luxe kitchen item, but a staple in the modern home. We did away with traditional closed-door kitchens, opting for open plan living. But, let’s be honest, no one wants to show off their mess. A butler’s pantry is not only a great way to store clutter and mess, it’s also a retreat when you want go for a snack, make a cup of tea or coffee. It’s important to remember, a butler’s pantry should be conveniently located, out of sight from the dining area and living room.

‘Go big or Go home’

How often does a big night end up in the kitchen? That last glass of champagne, or perhaps a herbal tea to get you off to sleep. Mood in a kitchen is more important now, than ever before. Design experts say 2019 is the year to add statement lighting into your kitchen. Whether it’s pendant lights, or perhaps something more dramatic. Let the light dictate the mood of the room. The best part, you can achieve this on any budget.

‘Mixers, yes please...’

We’re not talking about cocktails, sink mixers. They’ve been around for a while now, but they’re still a hot favourite in the kitchen. Whether you live in an ultra-modern, or character home, here at Tuck Plumbing Fixtures we have a selection for you to choose from.
